d|Code Challenge by CTT
01 Jul - 12:00 AM
Online
8.000€
CTT is a Portuguese company which operates as both the national postal service of Portugal and a commercial group with subsidiaries operating in banking, e-commerce, and other postal services.
All mail that passes through the Portuguese mailpost machines is printed with a single fluorescent 4 state bus. Behind that bus is a code identified as the object's IDTag used to track the object throughout the mail post journey.
The IDTag is a set of characters that contains some information related to the object's bus, namely the date it was barred, the equipment, the priority, among other information and which obeys a specific mail standard. The identification of the bus IDTag thus allows the mail post delivery system to immediately retrieve information related to the object, without the need to use any IT system or a network connection.
GOAL
The challenge proposed is the development of a mobile application to read the code with the respective identification of the lDTag using the camera available on any mobile device. The application should be able to identify all the information available on the code and show it on the application screen.

AI to Save the Planet (2020)
12 Jun - 02:00 PM
Online
We are currently facing a pandemic. But as long as we work together we can face any challenge 🚀. It's amazing to see how the world can come together so quickly in times of crisis. We believe that we can achieve a similar reaction 💪 to an equally dangerous, although even less visible, crisis: climate change.. That's why on the 12th of June 2020 we, FruitPunch AI, will organise AI to Save the Planet (ASAP) Online, an online event, so we can join arms despite these difficult times.
In the fight against climate change, resources are scarce. We believe artificial intelligence to be the best force-multiplier. We also believe in self-sustaining projects. ASAP Online is a competition 🏆 for the best sustainable business case that tackles climate change with AI. We like to call it the Heroes track: we will guide you through the process during the competition. We will match you with other bright minds to form a team, we’ll have guided online brainstorming sessions and experts available on call! At the end everyone will pitch and our expert jury will decide on the winner.
We’ve given the competition an exciting twist with our new ‘Cards Against Climate Change’. Pick a card, make your match and create the best solution! Curious to learn more about how this works? Go to www.fruitpunch.ai/asap to find out!
The event is freely accessible to everyone, worldwide 🌍!

We have a list of accomplished industry experts who have signed up as mentors and judges”.
The ideation hackathon gives innovators, industry leaders, technology & business leaders from all over the world the opportunity to engage, act together as a community.

"BCG - COVID-19" AI Hackathon
08 Jun - 07:33 PM
Online
Finding a treatment for COVID-19 will be a long-term and difficult process, and research into new vaccines can take several years. Researchers have suggested that a century old vaccine BCG can cause a boost of the immune system and possibly, this could be the reason for the relatively low COVID-19-attributed death rates in some countries. However, these findings come from ecological study designs, which are fraught with potential sources of bias; thus, further evidence is needed from alternative study designs that can account for these sources of potential bias, such as randomized controlled trials and prospective cohort studies. A number of clinical trials with BCG have started already, but the results will not be available for many months.
The studies of the BCG vaccine relationship to COVID-19 have used data from the BCG World Atlas project, started nearly a decade ago. The Atlas is neither perfect nor complete, but it is the only available database of this kind.
We are organising a hackathon with two main tasks. The first one is to try to augment the BCG Atlas data with the help of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Text Mining (Question Answering, Machine Reading). The second task is to try to find new insights for BCG - COVID-19 clinical trials.
Makerthon OWL OPEN.PUBLIC.PLACES.
05 Jun - 04:00 PM
Online
In our co-creative and socialMAKERTHON OWL: OPEN.PUBLIC.PLACES from 5-7 June 2020, we (4 institutions from science, economy, policy making and society) will invite creative minds from all generations and backgrounds to design and prototype innovative ideas for streets and squares, churches and museums, parks and playgrounds in times of Corona - and beyond. For the first time, we will experiment with a hybrid event format, uniting hands-on experimentation with online-meetings. A strong focus will be on inviting female makers to be part of the innovation process, and to encourage artistic or musical interventions as well as technological solutions. The MAKERTHON OWL is located in a rather rural area - involving two larger university towns plus several smaller villages and neighborhoods. We will reflect and share the outcomes of this process to see whether this model of participation, and the involvement of the "maker" spirit in urban innovation processes, will increase innovation in regions - in Europe and across the world.
What are the problems you aim to help solve with this project?:
In times of social distancing, people across the world still want to use streets and squares, parks and other open spaces to meet and cherish urban vibes and enjoy collective experiences. With our MAKERTHON OPEN.PUBLIC.PLACES we aim to "conquer" public spaces in cities and villages while infusing the "Maker Spirit" into local innovation processes. We will invite people from different genders and areas - universities, innovators, startups, citizens, artists, musucians, families, designers, policy makers, to think abour their urban environments and come up with new ideas on how to use them.
We will encourage all participants to use LEGO, playmobil, playdow and other gamestorming materials to illustrate their ideas during the MAKERTHON.
