This case competition, open to university students only, asks both non-technical and technical teams around the world to devise innovative solutions that address the challenge of making quality education a right for all – not a privilege. As current students, the world needs your expertise, empathy, and unique perspective to design technological solutions to a global problem.

IBM Z Day 2021 is a free, 1-day virtual conference for anyone and everyone! As the world evolves, there are significant observable effects of climate change on the environment. Glaciers are melting and shrinking, sea levels are rising, the oceans are warming, and droughts are becoming more frequent and severe. The University of Florida, IBM and the Florida Tech Council are looking for hackers who want to be part of the solution. At this hackathon, we are asking you to combat climate change and create solutions that make a difference while utilizing IBM technologies, AI/ML, and/or responsible AI. Nearly half of black owned SMBs have been wiped out YTD as the pandemic has ravaged minority communities disproportionately. "Black businesses experienced the most acute decline, with a 41% drop. Latinx business owners fell by 32% and Asian business owners dropped by 26%." Our goal is to make sure we continue to develop flexible, creative commerce solutions that serve everyone, and that commerce is accessible to everyone, everywhere. So through the Empower Hackathon, we’re focusing our inclusion and diversity efforts on a key part of our business: our developer community. We are also emphasizing our efforts an emphasis on those owned by Black women in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, and Washington, D.C.--we'll keep our eye out for solutions that focus on these pain points and needs in these specific communities
