Blue Planet Hackathon
10 Sep - 07:00 PM
India
From a population of about 700 million people in the mid-1700s, the current world population now stands at 7.6 billion, indicating a growth of over 950 percent in less than 300 years.
This unbelievably rapid rate of population growth and events such as industrialization, the impact on the environment has been catastrophic. Extinction of animal and bird species, pollution of air, water and soil, climate change, global warming, and the reduction of natural resources and forest cover are but a few outcomes of not caring for our planet.
The situation is critical, and it is important to gather all resources and work cohesively towards protecting this beautiful planet. This hackathon aims to bring together developers, designers, thinkers, and creators to build a better and more sustainable future.
With technology paving the way for the future, it makes sense that we leverage it to save the planet we call home.
THEMES:

Innovation for Sustainable Development
19 Jun - 08:30 PM
Bengaluru, India
OVERVIEW
Over the next few years, climate change coupled with a growing population that is expected to reach 9.8 billion in 2050, will have a dramatic impact on our world and will disrupt our already fragile ecosystem. By 2030, 65% of our population will face a shortage of power and water. Energy consumption is growing at a staggering rate and is projected to increase by as much as 55% by then. This is primarily due to the combined effect of population growth and a dependency on energy-intensive lifestyles.
Trends like urbanization that require water-intensive activities are putting pressure on already scarce resources. The availability of clean and affordable water for everyone on the planet is becoming a major challenge. It is reported that by 2050 at least one in four people will be affected by water stress and severe water shortages.
It is up to us to find ways to simultaneously preserve the environment and as well as drive development to ensure that future generations have a better world to live in. Enzen’s sustainability program encourages participants to develop high-quality solutions that can be used to solve water and power related challenges and create a positive impact on the environment.
