Developers and designers from the military, academia, and industry! Are you interested in wearable technologies for use in austere environments such as remote medical facilities, conflict zones, and emergency/disaster response? MD5 -- the Department of Defense's National Security Technology Accelerator -- and Sofwerx invite you to participate in MD5: Hacking the Human Element -- a 3-day event that focuses on wearables and their applications. Collaborate to design and build an innovative application and present it to a panel of judges for a chance to win recognition and up to $15K to further develop your project.

We are looking for concepts that address emergency response in challenging environments such as disaster sites and  conflict zones.  Concepts should  incorporate functional fabrics as part of a system;  fabrics that have the ability to sense their surroundings; communicate; control temperature  and monitor physiological performance. What kind of break-through prototypes could you help build to solve real-life ‘emergency response’ problems in disaster areas and conflict zones? Developers. Engineers. Designers. Join us on Friday, July 28- Sunday, July 30 in Cambridge for a hackathon unlike others. Each day you’ll work with 100-150 other innovators from the DoD, MIT Innovation Initiative,  AFFOA (Advanced Functional Fabrics of America) and the MIT community to build product prototypes. Beside access to advanced fabric technologies as a hackathon participant you’ll get the opportunity to be mentored by a diverse group of experts: mentors who are experts in the hackathon “challenge” areas, technology mentors and pitch mentors. Are you interested in disaster relief? MD5 -- the US Department of Defense's National Security Technology Accelerator -- invites you to come and recognize finalists from the recent MD5 Hack Austin. Participants in the hackathon were challenged to use their creative and technical skills to create solutions to challenges of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. You'll get to see finalists from the hack, pitch their concepts to a VIP jury panel, for final winning selections.

Are you passionate about disaster relief? MD5 -- the US Department of Defense's National Security Technology Accelerator -- invites you to signup to participate in the MD5 hackathon/austin_W17.
