Atlantic Lottery Hackathon 008: Lotto Game Super Hackathon

Atlantic Lottery presents the Lotto Game Super Hackathon, a three-province event that challenges you to build a lottery game that YOU would want to play! We want your best ideas for the next generation of instant win experiences. We're bringing together coders, designers, artists, marketers & ideas people to get the best our region has to offer. This collaboration between three Atlantic Startup hubs will be a fun-filled weekend with plenty of food and refreshments. Enter with a team of up to five members or just come by yourself, and prototype the next awesome game to be featured on alc.ca. If your game comes out on top, you'll walk away with a chunk of the $11,000 prize pool! For maximum reach, we're making this a distributed experience. Come down on Feb. 8-10 2019 to Volta in Halifax, Startup Zone in Charlottetown, or Venn in Moncton. We can't wait to see what you're going to build! This event is open to participants 19 years of age and older. Pitching: Each team will have three minutes maximum to pitch their idea and 2 minutes maximum for Q&A with the judges. Judging: Projects will be judged on presentation, impressiveness, completeness, and, of course, innovation, which is the degree to which an idea has design desirability, technological feasibility, and business viability! Teams will be ranked by total score, with the top three teams at each hub winning monetary prizes.   After the Hackathon: The winners from each hub will then be placed for the judges to pick an overall winner. The winner will be anounced at a later date and awarded with an additional prize. Teams/Participants: You can go solo, or work in a team.  Note: This event is 19+.     Hoist Halifax (Teen Tech Workshop - January Meetup)

    What is Hoist? Hoist is a tech club for teens interested in coding, design or entrepreneurship. If you’re between the ages of 12-19 and have an interest in startups, tech or coding, then come check it out! Don't forget to bring your laptop and charger. If you do not own a laptop we have a limited number available for use! Hoist is normally held on the third Saturday of every month. January Topic: Introducing Databases Presenter: Andrew Burke Andrew Burke is a Halifax- based freelance software developer and occasional entrepreneur. He has been messing with computers since the 1980s. (Andrew at the age of our HOIST particpants) What Happens at Hoist? LearnLearn from experts in the business. The first half-hour will be a lesson from a pro on the topic of the day – App basics, coding (android/ios?) etc. LunchHave some free pizza with your new friends. HackBuild or design something, apply what you just learned…it’s a mini hackathon. Work in a group or on your own to create the next big product or service! DiscussReflect and discuss the day…what did you find challenging or exciting? Chill out and talk to your new pals about what you created!
