FREE 1-day EOSIO Blockchain Developer Workshop (Utrecht)
10 Nov - 09:30 AM
Utrecht, Netherlands
EOSIO blockchain software powers fast, secure and UX and developer friendly blockchain for the deployment of decentralized applications. It has been used to deploy the Telos, EOS and other blockchains.
The Telos blockchain is showing the power of on-chain governance. After only a year live, the EOS blockchain it is supporting more on-chain activity than all the other top 10 blockchains combined. Smart contracts, programs that live on the decentralized blockchain, are written in mature, flexible and efficient C++. A huge range of new types of software applications can be built that could not before and this workshop will teach you how.

What makes this workshop unique?
Big part of the workshop is actively driven by questions from participants and so each workshop edition looks slightly different. This is a unique characteristic of a workshop where most of the participants come with specific problems to solve in their minds, looking for explanations to the most difficult topics that they encountered while self-studying EOSIO blockchain software.
Who can benefit from this workshop?
This is a highly technical workshop to allow developers to start using EOSIO blockchain software and writing and deploying smart contracts. It is for new and old developers, with or without C++ or EOSIO experience.

About Nethermind
Nethermind is a first .NET Core full Ethereum client available as an open source project (see https://github.com/tkstanczak/nethermind).
Nethermind is also the first Ethereum client that comes with integrated wallet and decentralized exchange (DEX), 0x relay and DEX+CEX liquidity aggregator.
Nethermind is a registered trademark of Demerzel Solutions Limited. Check out their website on http://nethermind.io/
What is this advanced Ethereum internal workshop about?
In this workshop you will learn how Ethereum works under the hood. If you ever wondered how EVM executes smart contracts code or how the Ethereum account data is stored in the database then this workshop is for you.
We will cover a broad range of topics including block and transaction data, signatures, mining with ethash, devp2p (network protocol) and private networks. You will learn how to setup a private Ethereum network using Nethermind to run network nodes. Nethermind is an open source Ethereum client which you can use to setup blockchain in your organization. We are building a community of developers building enterprise tools for Ethereum. We have prepared 20 hands-on coding exercise and we will attempt to cover as many as we can throughout the day.
Requirements:
To be able to participate you will need to bring a laptop (or desktop if you prefer) with the newest version of IDE (JetBrains Rider or Visual Studio) and .NET Core 2.1 SDK installed. You can use Ubuntu, Windows or Mac OS
You are not expected to be fluent in in .Net or C#. If you have only worked with .NET Framework before and not with .NET Core then do not worry – the platform is new but tools and libraries are mostly the same.
This is an advanced workshop, hence you should already have a working knowledge of Ethereum and blockchain technology in general.
What will you learn?
During the workshop, you will setup your own private Ethereum network (and choose your own consensus protocol). You will write a smart contract in byte code and analyse its execution on your own network. You will complete a series of hands-on coding excersise.
What next?
If after workshop you are hungry for more, you can contribute to the open source Nethermind project on github. Nethermind is still under development and there are parts of Ethereum protocol that still need to be looked at. This is a great opportunity to get a deep understanding of blockchain and Ethereum.
Would you like to experiment with Nethermind ahead of the workshop or need help installing the tools?

Course Abstract:
This free 10 week course focuses on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology which combines applied cryptography, software engineering, distributed systems, mechanism design and game-theory. It is the first example of a self-sustaining peer-to-peer network that can reach consensus about a series of events on a global scale without the assistance (or support) of any global institution or intermediary. The first application of a global consensus network was Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer electronic cash system, but it has since been taken further by several new projects including Ethereum to support the execution of global programs (‘smart contracts’). Throughout the course, we’ll study how something like Bitcoin can work, the implications (and beauty) of self-enforcing smart contracts, and focus on bringing all students up to date with state-of-the-art research in this emerging (and exciting) area.
Provisional Schedule:
Week 1 - Introduction to Cryptocurrencies by Patrick McCorry
Week 2 - Structure of the blockchain, transactions and how cryptography plays a role by Patrick McCorry

“Blockchain engineers are in high demand with 14 job openings per one qualified blockchain developer”. Source: Techcrunch, Feb 14th, 2018.
Will you be the next blockchain developer? Now is your chance to become one for FREE. All we asked from you is your time, passion and commitment to learn. This is a very popular bootcamp and we can only accomodate a maximum of 40 students per class. We have been oversubscribed for the past 6 months, hence please make sure you are fully commited prior to entering our program.
Our overall aim is to train as many software developers as possible, provide our students the intuition on distributed systems, cryptography, the blockchain, smart contract security, real-world applications, hands-on coding experience, group projects and more...
Due to popular demand and positive feedback from our students, we aim to run this boot camp monthly. We have trained over 430+ developers to date since Jan 2017. Our students have gone on to work as a blockchain developer, moved into the research field, set up their own start-up in the blockchain space and some are now a core part of our workshop team.
Our workshop consists of topics that all future blockchain developers must know with plenty of Q&A throughout and we incorporate multiple hands-on coding sessions. To help our students further, we provide three month on-line support, students work on a group project and invite them back at the end of the 3 months to present their project to the whole class. Our goal is to help regular software developers and computer science students enter the blockchain space. This workshop is also available on-site for start-ups and corporates at your desired location (chargeable), alternatively we can offer the bootcamp to companies and universities around the world providing our flights and accomodation are covered. Please inquire via email to antonio@workonblockchain.com
Some of the areas we cover but not limited to are:
Day OneIntro to Blockchains, Bitcoin and Byzantine Fault Tolerant Networks plus more...Intro to Ethereum and Smart Contracts plus more...Series of hands-on coding on Ethereum and Smart Contracts
DAY TWOSmart Contracts Security and Ethereum Internals - Cryptography, Consensus, EVM, Privacy plus more...Smart Contracts Design and Best PracticesDeep dive on a bonus topic chosen by our students What to know as a Blockchain Developer plus more...Series of hands-on coding on Ethereum and Smart ContractsReview the feedback from previous workshops by clicking HERE.
Pre-requisite:
To qualify, 6 months of current coding experience is a must or either currently studying in their final year, about to graduate or recently graduated from a computer science/software engineering subject. This workshop consists of a series of hands-on coding exercise, hence as a minimum requirement, all our students must be proficient in writing code.
We are looking for software developers/computer science students who are GENUINELY PASSIONATE about working in the blockchain space.
You must be committed to attend the two day workshop followed by a commitment to work on a group project for 3 months which is conducted remotely together with your chosen group (4-5 hours per week commitment on the project).
What's next after the workshop?
We hope our students will continue to code and conduct their own research on Ethereum and other blockchain platforms. To help our students succeed, we allow up to three months for further Q&A in relation to Ethereum, Solidity, Smart Contracts, Security, Privacy, Scalability etc. We also have further coding sessions for our students to work on with our guidance.
Our students are required to work on a group project and once completed, we will offer our services free of charge to audit the project code (if built on Ethereum) and provide guidance where necessary. Finally, we invite our students back to present their project to the whole class.
Securing a job in the blockchain space:Don't worry, we've got you covered. Our goal is to equip our students with the knowledge required to become a blockchain developer and help our students enter this exciting new space. We have built an on-line hiring platform to help our students secure a job when they are ready via www.workonblockchain.com completely free of charge.
