Interested in how the Internet of Things can help save energy? Sign up for the City of Things Midsummer Night Hackathon Challenge. Your challenge--create a product that indicates the real energy efficiency of a building, combining data from the TOON® smart thermostat, open data and possibly data from extra sensors or devices.

The Electric Sky is a cross between an artists' retreat and a hackathon where you'll spend several days in the woods, on the river, in an outdoor creativity lab, making stuff combining art and tech. This event aims to bring together artists, technologists, designers, hackers, makers and friends to collaboratively engage with the environment in new and exciting ways.

Maker Faire together with Eni SpA are organizing this 24-hour hackathon dedicated to renewable energies with the aim to identify original solutions for the use of solar energy production technologies. The challenge of the renewables hackathon will focus on three possible challenge: OPV, LSC, and Solar Harvesting. Using LSC and OPV for exploitation environments or conditions where it is not possible to connect to a power grid or other energy harvesting solutions. Participants must develop a working prototype to be presented to the Jury at the end of the weekend.

Come join in the Circular Towns - Circular Mapping Challenge at Reading Green Festival, which is part of London/ READING OSCEdays. The focus will be around sharing, learning, meeting new people and exploring new places through a circular lens. Participants will have a chance to explore the city and engage in mapping the local activities and related places – putting circular initiatives on the map (literally). The goal is to create an open map of the towns circular related activities and connections that will be of use and can be built upon further by local groups.

This year's challenge activity focuses on Circular Maker Spaces and Open Energy Life Cycles. Participants will be developing circular guidance, inspiration, signage and more and exploring what platform is the best for this. Open Energy Monitor will also be on hand to share and develop further resources around embodied energy and LCA to aid hardware design considerations.
