Interested in using technology to address pressing issues of healthcare? This event's for you! At HackRSS 2016. you'll be challenged to develop an idea for a novel, innovative resource that has the potential to improve healthcare and/or the patient experience in Ireland. It can have commercial appeal but more importantly it will be used by future healthcare professionals on a daily basis to improve patient care. The innovation will be pitched to a panel of experts in the RCSI Dragon’s Den, who will select the best innovation presented to them.

Imperial College Healthcare Trust have launched a new series of iQI Sprints to improve the quality of care given to patients. Teams of staff from across the staff will be bringing problems that they are facing in their daily working lives to be tackled on the day. An iQI Sprint is an intense day of team work where healthcare staff, patients, artists, engineers and designers will work together to come up with innovative solutions and test these new ideas with patients and hospital staff. The iQI Sprint will be held at Hammersmith Hospital.

Do you like to problem solve and find innovative solutions to everyday issues in the provision of healthcare in care homes, keeping the more vulnerable members of our society safe, well and avoiding admissions into secondary care? Come participate in the “Collaborate to Improve Care - Hackathon.” You will meet and collaborate with a diverse mix of people--from healthcare and academia--healthcare scientists, clinicians, care professionals, elderly care physicians, and public health professionals, information management professionals, engineers, computer scientists, and bio-medical specialists. Challenges will be pitched by participants and teams will be formed to find a solution to these challenges. The teams then pitch their solutions to a panel of judges, and they will mark the solutions on their viability.

Join the Pears Program for Global Innovation - IsraelDev at WeWork Dubnov Tel-Aviv for conversations with investors and startups making it happen in the healthcare sector. Meet talented innovators designing breakthrough technologies answering the most pressing needs of low income communities all over the world. A panel discussion and the presentation will include developing healthcare challenges that will be addressed at the MED4DEV Hackathon. For three days in July, innovators, entrepreneurs and healthcare professionals will gather in four locations in India and Israel to develop healthcare solutions for low and lower-middle income Indians. Participants will have face-to-face and online access to dozens of top industry mentors. Teams will compete for cash prizes, mentoring packages, and placements in an Indian-Israeli healthcare accelerator to help them transform their ideas into successful ventures!

Techies, particularly programmers, designers, and others are invited to participate in the RHoK Pretoria Hackathon to create solutions to pressing issues in society. Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) Pretoria is a part of a global community of technologists and change-makers who are 'hacking for good'.

Big data and Hadoop interest you? Want to upgrade your skills in that area? Attend this hands-on workshop: Big Data Hadoop Training by Building Projects. Developed in collaboration with industry experts, this live, instructor-lead training will give you project experience and hands-on practical knowledge of working with Hadoop. Topics covered include HDFS, MapReduce, Advanced MapReduce, Hive, PIG, Sqoop, Flume, Oozie, Zookeeper, YARN, Hadoop 2.0, and HBase. You'll work on a project such as : Data Analysis on Medicare Data (Healthcare Sector), Perform Call-Drop Analysis (Telecom Sector), Identifying Mortgage Defaulters (Finance Sector), or Real-Time Twitter Data Acquisition (Product Development/Marketing Sector).
