This hackathon is organized by Harvard and Blue Umbrella with the aim to meaningfully improve the lives of people with autism. Students and community members are invited to join for a day of brainstorming, ideating, and prototyping. Participants will form teams, and then present final pitches to a judging panel, highlighting innovative solutions to address the challenges surrounding autism. Attendees will be asked to develop products and/or business concepts or come with existing ideas to help or feedback on. This could include designing a solution to address language and communication disorders, outlining a new concept for adaptive play, pitching a solution around employment services, or designing a plan for a new residential community. There will be end-users on hand to help participants better understand these challenges. You do not need to bring any additional materials, but may bring a laptop or other supplies that you may find helpful. Participantscan be from any kind of background including healthcare, business, education, tech, design, and more. No technical experience or prior knowledge on autism is required for this hackathon.

This is a hackathon organized for the development of an innovative ideas for developing a mobile app for EFSA. You may participate as an individual or as a team by submitting a prototype of a mobile app that gives access to EFSA’s recent work. The deadline for submissions is 30 June 2016. You should work on your idea before applying. You may not have a fully functioning product when you apply, but as long as the idea is in place, you’re in good shape. The creators of the five best prototypes will be invited to present them at EFSA’s premises, in Parma. By this time, your app should fully work! This is a competition but it’s also a place to meet interesting people and learn something new. Just have a good time and do your best!
