CodeAcross is an annual civic hackathon, this time joining the County of Sacramento and supporting their #Hack4Sac Innovation Campaign to connect, make teams, and hack on projects you like. You don't need to be a coder to participate!

Come join the Global Open Data day where citizens gathering in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption of open data policies by the world's local, regional and national governments. Let's get together and see what interesting projects we can come up with on Hong Kong data!

Governments and companies have huge tourist data that could make much more possible than it is doing now. Your challenge will be to work with datasets from Tourism Flanders, the City of Mechelen, Westtoer, Lannoo, the Province of Antwerp and RouteYou, to conjure up an innovative concept, an interesting business case or a technically idea that will make a change! Whether you are a professional developer, hobbyist or student: anyone who knows something about coding with data can participate!

OpenData Day is inviting all experts, journalists, citizens and government leaders to come and learn how to read data and develop innovative ideas and solutions for the environment and cultural sites. This is an opportunity to discuss the value of OpenData and free knowledge for business, the citizens and the government: transparency in civic participation, opportunities for the territory. The meeting involves comparison between local institutions and activists OpenPuglia: a group of private citizens, civic hackers, Puglia students and local industry representatives and academics, who work voluntarily to create new culture with Open Data, and a new way of understanding the relationship between information, the digital and the rights of citizens. It will look in particular on the monitoring and sharing of environmental data , and the enhancement of cultural sites in Puglia. In the afternoon the hackathon will take place where attendees will learn how to collect data and how to read them in relation to the territory for which and on which they are processed. You will explore Wikidata, the free and collaborative database supporting the functioning of Wikipedia, the free and voluntary encyclopedia. Discover how to geo-locate the sites of the Apulian culture and enrich the free OpenStreetMap.

Wigan Council, in association with Leigh Hackspace, are running the first ever Wigan Borough 'The Deal In Action' Civic Hackathon to help the Council better understand the needs of the local population, and develop new and innovative digital solutions to local problems.

The I Hackathon Copel Telecom is a 48-hour competition to program applications and software for students of technical schools, colleges and universities. This event is connected to CodeAcross 2016, a weekend of simultaneous events, coordinated by brigades CodeForAmerica worldwide, which coincides with the International Day of open data. The goal of CodeAcross is to invite the city to participate in the CodeForCuritiba and inspire residents everywhere to be actively involved in their community.

A 48-hour Hackathon dedicated to Smart Cites in partnership with IBM, Cronos and UMONS, and with the support of Wallonia Digital (Digital Agency), FOREM, the House Enterprise, Cetic and Creative Valley. Open to students, teachers, contractors, start-ups, etc. You will be provided with the technology support of IBM and access to Open Data to create new uses through digital technology and develop applications to that will service the well-being of citizens the 2.0 University, and accelerate workflow.

The Calgary Regional Partnership and The City of Calgary want you to participate at this year’s Hackathon! You will have three-days to develop a software solution, such as a mobile app, website, or mapping product that uses open data from the Calgary region. This year’s theme is connectivity – how will your idea help connect the Calgary region? You will be given the opportunity to pitch your product to a panel of judges for the chance to win cash prizes!

Unearthed is a 54-hour open innovation event focused on the mining and resources sectors. Innovators such as software developers, engineers, data scientists, designers, and industry insiders are invited to come together and develop prototype solutions to resource sector challenges. Participants get the chance to work on proprietary industry data as well as data from government partners. Big cash prizes are up for grabs, bragging rights against your peers, and the potential to gain an opportunity in the resources sector. The Tishman Environment and Design Center (TEDC) is teaming up with New School Buildings Sustainable Initiatives to host the #ClimateCitizen Hackathon with a mission to confront the global climate crisis! Come and take part in The Climate Action Plan which will address operations, academics, and campus culture to establish a comprehensive strategy to act on climate. Challenges include data Interpretation and Visualization, TNS Carbon “Internet of Things”, Climate Action Campaign, and Energy to Art.
