Data scientists, programmers, developers, experts in UX or UI, business designers, and other techies passionate about energy and transport! You're invited to participate in a 48-hour Energy and Mobility Datathon. You'll get to choose one of three energy and transport challenges -- creating an innovative solution that rethinks the use of mobility and energy in the public interest. Pitch your team's project to a jury chaired by Cédric Villani, for the chance to win your share of an € 8,000 cash prize pool.

The 2019 Big Data Hackathon is a collaborative event where domain knowledge experts, business analysts, programmers, graphic designers, journalists and map makers work together to create useful solutions to important problems. Participants can use their skills in journalism, business, marketing, data, public health, urban planning, programming, mapping or GIS to make San Diego a better place to live. It’s not just for programmers; the emphasis on design and creativity means that all skills will be critical to the team’s work. We will also provide training and workshop opportunities for participants who may need to get more programming experience or data analytic skills.

In December 2019, London will unveil its newest Crossrail line cutting journey times for many commuters. Using public transportation, housing, and geographic datasets, participants are asked to explore the impact of this new line on London. You are encouraged to think outside the box to come up with models and visualizations that answer questions about the effects of the Crossrail line. For example;How will the Crossrail line affect London’s traffic problems?What is the potential time-savings, if any, of daily commuters? What effect, if any, will this have on housing prices? Datasets Pivigo will provide datasets from TFL, National Rail, and the City of London, hosted on an Azure platform Tools The datasets will be hosted in a Azure data lake, access and support to Azure hosted ML SDKs, Jupyter notebooks, and VMs will be provided. Participants are free to use their own resources. Who are we looking for? We invite anyone from beginner to advanced in the field of data analytics and data science to participate. Participants can be students, faculty, government workers, members of NGOs, or industry members. We welcome both teams and lone wolves. It is beneficial if you can code. They should be talking to the mentors about their idea and should ask for funding from the mentors. It is a month-long competition divided into 3 phases. Phase 1- IDEA Students will register and submit their concept note on an online portal. The concept notes will be evaluated by the experts from IRSC and Bosch to select the teams for the next phase. Phase 2- PLAN OF ACTION Selected teams will be required to submit an execution plan of their concept note. The report must clearly state the concept and technical principles that would be used to generate the prototype, the uniqueness of idea and feasibility in terms of execution and finance. Submit the report on the online portal. Phase 3- ONSITE COMPETITION The third and the final phase of the hackathon would be held from 30th - 31st March at IIT Guwahati. All selected teams from phase 2 would be working in 36 Hours hackathon to develop a prototype. In between bosch experts would be available there to guide and monitor their work and solve their queries. Out of those, 10 Teams would be selected (by Bosch) for final presentation and they will showcase their work in front of judges.

The winning project will travel to the international final of the 3rd Y4PT Global Transport Hackathon in Stockholm (Sweden) during the 63rd UITP Global Public Transport Summit in June 2019, one of the biggest events on sustainable transport in the world. Here they will challenge each other in a final round and have the possibility to be included among the best innovative transport solutions in the world. During the weekend of February 8th-10th, the American Digital Diversity Initiative will be hosting a hackathon at California State Univerisity Long Beach where more than 150 Hackathon participants (e.g. web developers, designers, UX/UI, project managers, Military Veterans) to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes to develop solutions to improve and the quality of life for individuals in cities and the future of work.
