VR Philippines together with Samsung are bringing you a Workshop on Mobile VR App development in preparation for the Philippine Mobile VR Jam on June 10-12. This workshop is intended for beginners, and will cover everything you need to develop your first Mobile VR App for the Samsung Gear VR. The Samsung Gear VR is a mobile virtual reality headset developed by Samsung, in collaboration with Oculus. This workshop is open to everyone. You don't need to have prior experience in Blender, Unity or C#, but basic coding knowledge is expected. You should bring your laptop with the latest versions of the following free software and tools pre-installed: Blender, Unity, Android SDK (no need for Android Studio), Java Runtime, Environment, and Java Development Kit. The Stupid Shit No One Needs & Terrible Ideas Hackathon Toronto is a hackathon dedicated to creating things that have absolutely no value. You are aloud to create whatever you want as long as it works and contributes nothing whatsoever to the world. Examples of useless ideas to work with are weird food delivery services, emoji intelligence, quicktime for Pegasi, millenial falcons, sensors, virtual fealty, the internet of bees, etc. You may come with a team or just meet new people to create a stupid, terrible idea that nobody needs! At the end of the day everyone will present their stupid terrible nonsense off at the Stupid Job Fair. A hardware library with cameras, Arduinos, Cutting Edge "Electronic" Sensors, and more will be made available to you for creating your stupid pointless garbage idea. Note, no tech expertiseis required, all progammers, designers, comedians, videographers, artists, thought leaders, ideationists, neolibertarian techno-utopian oversimplifiers, and fearless creaitives are invited!

Come and see the exciting outcomes from April's Abilities Hackathon, when participants from that event showcase what they have made towards making products that address problems that those with impacted abilities face! Expect to see some exciting ideas that enable the Baltimore community to solve and address problems that those with disabilities face. Participants will present their work in one of the following four tracks: (1) Transportation/Mobility; (2) Wearables; (3) Leisure/Entertainment; and (4) Open Software/Hardware. Two teams will be rewarded a grand total of $6,000 thanks to the Mayor's Office of Information Technology.

Microsoft is teaming up with Playcrafting SF to present Tool Jam to bring you a hackathon to create helpful software tools for game developers. Developers of all backgrounds face the same technical roadblocks and challenges. It may be as simple as common repetitive tasks that could be automated, or as innovative as a new SDK that will become the industry standard for AR/VR development. Instead of creating a prototype or pitching a concept, this event will bring together top-tier developers to create tools that will help people immediately. The event is primarily aimed for developers, but individuals interesting in designers, artists, and other folks who can help create game development tools are also welcome. The aim is design things to help the game developers of today!

This is the first FIVR hackathon (Finland VR Hackathon), a weekend long event for virtual reality and augmented reality enthusiasts to share ideas and come together to craft experiences with the latest VR platforms and gadgets. The topics that are to be covered on the weekend are: bringing archive material into AR/VR/360 environment Yle, building a way to travel through the history of libraries Central Library, and introducing new life to old stereoscopic images Helsinki City Museum. If you have your own topic in mind, then you are encouraged to pitch it during the topic presentations on Friday. You should bring your own laptop, tablet, VR gear, crayons and whatever else you think you might need for the event. You will be provided with WLAN, working space for the weekend, food and drinks.
